Well the results are in and the points have been counted, and

 

Electricity started - 58183 and finished 58338 for my week of leaving the standby button on.  The week without the standby button ended at 58471!  So I consumed 155khw and then 133khw.  That means on January energy prices (the only bill I could find) I saved a massive £1.76 which over the course of the year potentially could save me £91.52.  If you translate that accross the whole country then you could save, well alot!  (well based on 1991 census there are 24 million occupied homes, you do the math!)

 

Anyway how true my "scientific" study is i am not sure but it seems fairly damming!  The main issue with the science was i didn't play XBOX much as I couldn't be bothered turning on the switch behind the tv stand!

 

So removal of the standby button may also be the answer to kids playing xbox getting fat, playing more violent games, going a bit weird, listening to heavy metal and then murdering their local population!  These standby buttons really do have a lot to answer for!
